Southwestern Medical Clinic to use Allscripts EHR

Southwestern Medical Clinic has selected Allscripts to provide integrated electronic health record and practice management software to automate clinical and financial operations for the group's nearly 70 healthcare providers.

Southwestern Medical Clinic is a multi-specialty group practice with 53 physicians and 13 mid-level providers caring for more than 80,000 patients in eight locations across rural Berrien County, Michigan.

The integrated electronic health record (EHR) and practice management solution from Allscripts will link Southwestern Medical Clinic's administrative and clinical functions, enabling the group to be more productive while improving service to patients.

The EHR will provide anytime-anywhere access to patient records and automate everyday clinical tasks such as prescribing and refilling medications, ordering and reviewing tests, and managing patient care according to clinical best practices.

The practice management solution, meanwhile, will deliver sophisticated scheduling and billing tools that improve accuracy, speed up reimbursement and enhance patient relations.

Allscripts will replace Southwestern Medical Clinic's 13-year-old practice management system and digitize the organization's paper medical charts, which are currently sent by courier between clinics, some of which are more than 30 miles apart.
